Get back to Work People

Well, I'm back from the wedding and now it is time for Bar Review which promises to take me somewhere near the seventh level of hell. I sat in on my first lecture today and, well, lets just say there are two months of this and I feel like I'm trapped in a falling elevator.

On second thought, that might actually be exciting so its not such a great comparison... its going to be a long trip till July 24th.

The wedding in Charleston WVA was wonderful. I think I kept the groom out of trouble the best I could and the bridesmaids were all very pretty and fun to flirt with. Wifey seemed to have a good time as well and tolerated my wedding schenangis quite well. She even seemed quite amused at times. We had a horrible trip up there due to traffic delays, but on the way home we went by the New River Gorge where I was a raft guide for two summers. I wanted to do a trip down the river, but we didn't get to because we simply didn't have time. We did, fortunately, have time to head to the lake yesterday and that was a ton of fun. Very relaxed day at the lake, and interestingly, our friends were out of beer so none of us drank, yet we had a great time and came home well rested.

So you really can have a good time without alcohol. I went to the gym for the first time in....well who knows... today. It was not so fun. But I need to lose 20 pounds so we'll see how it goes.

Toppin It Off

This weekend I'll be in Charlottesville West Virginia serving as the best man for my good friend Jeff. Therefore, last weekend was the obligitory bachlor party. Being the best man, I was in charge of these schenanagians. Therefore, I waited to the very last minute and planned a weekend trip to our old stomping grounds - Athens.

So a four of the almost thirty variety married and otherwise males hit the town. I must say, not much has changed. We gawked harder and made more inappropriate comments, but I guess thats because you don't really fear rejection when you're not out on the prowl. We did, however, prowl our way to toppers. (aka The Jackson Street Balet, the Boys Club, etc)

Toppers is an important landmark for me. Though I was in Athens for over 5 years, I only went once. The managers from a large acocunting firm took me after dinner one night. We didn't neglect to stop by more than a few bars on our way. So, I arrived very, very drunk, and without any money as these ass-clowns were to be paying for everything.

Well, since I had no money, I couldn't really tip and strippers who aren't being tipped...well, lets just say they aren't interested. So, I started to tell the guy next to me some story about my school furniture work. Without my knowing, I evidently said something about some "cocksucker" and that folks, is a word not to be said in a strip club. Even if you are talking about some guy who isn't even present. The miscommunication resulted in me being taken out of the club in a headlock and finding my own way home. So, I was hesitatant to retrun to the the toppers.

But return we did, this time I broke a 20 at every place and had several singles on me. We only had an hour in this lovely place, so we had to act quick. We got my buddy Jeff a lap dance from the only one in there that looked worth paying. And were allowed to leave, at closing time, of our own accord. Other than it taking a full day to recover, all-in-all a great night.

A Long Vacation

Well, I finally graduated last week. Or was that the week before. I can't remember. Class was out for two weeks, then graduation, then this week got here, at least i think. I'm still confused. After vacation, we spent a solid three days cleaning house and lawn in an effort to prepare for the graduation brunch that was a rather historic event. We actually had something like 23 people for a rather formal brunch. It was a rather large event for our small, unfinished home.

And now, It seems I've spent the last week, or more, recovering. I did my first carpentry work yesterday. I am going to play golf today. We took the dog to the lake for an evening. and I've watched a great deal of television. As for the highlight of my week - we supported our local sports and went to the opening game for the Macon Music below minor league baseball team. It was over crowed, lines way to long, but we drank some beer, had a good time and hit up the goose for a late dinner.

Well, about time to play some golf.

Vacay

Well, First of all to Ally for house-sitting for us. I think we should demand a post (all 2 readers anyways)

So, Wifey and I took off for our FIRST MARRIED FOLK VACATION. We're into day 3 of this adventure, and I must say its been a good time. We've been married nearly 5 years and neither of us can thing of a vacation we took that was just us since that time that wasn't for some obligation or another (ok - the dog came too, but someone has to broker the peace!)

So we have a condo down on Cape San Blas. Next time we're gonna get one on the damn beach. Its like a big tease or something. Anyways, we haven't lacked for time on the beach. Also, we rented a kayak and I bought some fishing gear. I've had fun catching quite a few fish, but I havne't caught anything worth keeping.

For the most part, we got all our groceries at the Piggly Wiggly. So far our only souviner is a pair of t-shirts from the afore-mentioned grocery store. Where we come from, these damn shirts are coveted. Stop laughing.

The first night we took the dog to walk on the beach and missed dinner. Apparently these folk roll up the carpet around 8:30. Which, happens to be the time it gets dark. So, if you come to Cape San Blas, get your damn dinner early or you too will wind up eating at "Peppers" a mediocre Mexican place in Port St. Joe. Last night was much better. We visited the Indian Pass Raw Bar - where the wait staff is surly, but they make friends fast. We had some really tasty oysters, steamed shrimp, and beer - get your own out of the cooler and tell the waitress what you had when you got to leave. Excellent conversation was had with the cute little high schooler - she thinks crocs should only be worn in your own house, and I tend to agree.

Anyways, we also rented a kayak and I've had fun fishing from it. Tomorrow I will take the wifey around the bay. She does a pretty good paddling. Yesterday we paddled up to the camp for the developmentally challenged. I guess its good to give the kids a chance, but that place it tying up some damn fine real estate. Anyways, whatever floats your boat.

More to come..... Captain Kayak - "arrrgghhh"

The "Off-Season"

Well, Wifey, Dora, and I are at the Beach. Here at Cape San Blas in Florida, this is the time to come. Temperature is about 80 degrees, water is cool, but enjoyable and the sun is OUT! The beaches are more or less deserted adn the waters are as empty as it gets. We rented a kayak and, contrary to my opinion, no one has filed for divorce yet. I took the boat our solo on the bay and enjoyed some fishing. I actually caught a few fish!

However, because it is the off-season there is this god awful pressure washing goign on next door. They have one of those genie lifts (which I have always wanted to use) but damn that thing is loud. Let's just say we make some short lunches here at the beach adn get back out away from the noise.

Well, back to work...er...i mean fishing...
